It is a tool which is being used for decades but only on special occasions like Christmas or Thanksgiving. The idea is that you don’t have to carve out your everyday food, but on those particular days it is a valuable tool. When you own of those best carving knives, you can easily carve the turkey or any other poultry without the mess and save yourself some blushes. The full list here will tell you how these carving knives are made which ensures that the blades are thin and precise.

Design of Carving Knife:

The blades are designed to be thin so that the cuts on the meat are precise. You can use it on beef, turkey, chicken, ham, etc. The length of the blade is about 8 to 15 inches, so there is no need to worry about the size of the meat. Also, the blade is flexible that ensures you can cut through the boat and the meat and is hence more versatile than the chef’s knife. Due to the blade’s thinness, you can make sure to get those precise cuts. The knives’ that you find these days has the sides which are very deep and is called as the Grantor. A few other knives also use indentations which aids in more comfortable in cutting thin slices.

Uses of carving knives:

Contrary to the belief that these knives are useful only for meat, it can be helpful for vegans and vegetarians too. A big vegetable or a fruit can also be efficiently carved using this knife; you can use to cut beautiful designs on pumpkins for Halloween. You can also work it to roast nuts.
You can make exact thin slices on any meat like the chicken, ham, turkey, beef, etc. Due to the length of the blade which is about 8 to 15 inches long, you can make slices of big meat quickly without having to saw it. The edge is designed such that it is flexible and hence you can get around bones to get to the meat.
Indentations on the blade ensure there is very less resistance while cutting and hence makes it easy to create thin slices.

Slicers which are carvers:

Some slicers which have a round tip blade are also called as the carvers. These are very common in restaurants so that the diners don’t hurt themselves while cutting. At home, these can only be used on boneless meat. There is also the salmon slicer which has a flexible long and thin blade which is useful for cutting pieces of delicate flesh. Unlike the carving knife, it does not have a pointed tip to prevent people from piercing it. These blades are also useful in chopping tomatoes, but you can do that with other knives too. But salmon cuts best when you use this knife with a rounded tip.

Slicers and carvers are used interchangeably by some people and so do some brands. Some call them as slicers and others are called carvers. It is not essential to know what the difference between these two types of knives and a knife used for carving can be called either as a slicer or carver.
